Together in Rhythm - More Than a Feast
While our life is gradually returning to normality after over three years’ fighting with the pandemic, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) livened up the campus last month with an Arts Gala to celebrate cultural diversity through the performing arts. On the theme of ‘Together in Rhythm’, the Gala not only created a feast for the eyes and the ears, but also brought the CUHK community together.
The Gala, highlight of the Arts Festival this semester, was a showcase of CUHK students’ talents for a variety of performing art forms – band shows, Central Asian, Zimbabwean and Chinese traditional musical instruments, singing, dancing, and many more. In addition, the performers came from far and near, which truly demonstrates the spirit of cultural pluralism. Their sparkling performances won rounds of applause from gathered spectators. Among the exciting line-up, the participants of the Zumba and a cappella workshops of the Festival shared the fruits of what they had learnt on stage.
Magdalena Sofia Montenegro Reyes from Chile said, ‘Being an organizer of the Zumba workshop was a valuable experience, especially as it allowed me to share a bit of Latin American culture with the CUHK community through this energetic, fun and representative workout. To me, cultural exchange is key to creating a more tolerant and less biased community. It was amazing to perform our Zumba choreography while appreciating the wonderful performances from both local and non-local students in the Arts Gala.’
