CUHK robot dog says hello to seniors

Project Sharp, an anti-deception crime promotion event organised by the Hong Kong Police Force (Shatin – Ma On Shan Police Division) and Helping Hand Father Sean Burke Care Home for the Elderly, was held on 16 August.

Supported by Hong Kong Centre for Logistics Robotics led by Professor Liu Yunhui, the event made use of the Centre’s lightweight quadruped robot (robotic dog) to distribute souvenirs to more than 100 seniors. It was also used for stair-climbing package delivery. With the use of AI technologies, the robotic dog is able to carry out last mile delivery and inspection. It can also walk and jump on uneven terrains with a high stability.

Apart from delivering anti-deception messages, the event also facilitated close communication between elderly centres and the community.
