Sixteen CUHK projects funded by NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme

The Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong recently announced funding results for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)/RGC Joint Research Scheme 2024/25. Sixteen projects from CUHK have received funding, the highest among University Grants Committee-funded institutions in both number of projects and total funding amount.

This scheme supports research proposals jointly submitted by mainland and Hong Kong researchers that aim to promote collaboration between researchers and research teams in those two places. Each successful Hong Kong applicant receives a maximum grant of HK$1.25 million, with each chosen research project running four years.

CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sham Mai-har said: “These projects include collaborations between CUHK and renowned academic institutions in mainland China, such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Beihang University. We will continue to strengthen collaboration with mainland and international research institutions to promote interdisciplinary and international academic exchange, helping to establish Hong Kong as an international innovation and technology hub.”
