Arrangements for the 91st Congregation and Graduation Ceremonies

The 91st Congregation and graduation ceremonies organised by respective Colleges and Faculties will be held from 24 to 26 November 2022 (Thursday to Saturday) on Shatin campus.

With the implementation of the government’s enhanced Vaccine Pass function on CUHK campus, all graduates and guests must meet the vaccination requirements or hold a valid medical exemption certificate along with a negative COVID-19 test result.

Details of the ceremonies are as follows:

Parking

The car park opposite the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall will be temporarily closed from 29 October to 1 December for the erection and dismantlement of canopies for the ceremonies. Some parking spaces near John Fulton Centre, University Administration Building, Lady Shaw Building, Sir Run Run Shaw Hall and Tin Ka Ping Building will be reserved for guests with special parking labels during 24-26 November.

Suspension of classes

On 24 November, full-time undergraduate classes (except MBChB Programme Years 4-6) and postgraduate classes will be suspended.

Infection prevention measures

All graduates and guests attending the ceremonies are at all times required to wear surgical masks and observe social distancing.

Adverse weather arrangement

In the event of the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, all ceremonies will be cancelled. If the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 is hoisted, the University will launch the contingency plan. Upon an official announcement, the 91st Congregation and the graduation ceremonies organised by New Asia College, Lee Woo Sing College and Faculties of Arts, Social Science, Business Administration and Medicine will be conducted in virtual format. The indoor ceremonies for Chung Chi College, Shaw College, United College, Morningside College, S.H. Ho College, CW Chu College, Wu Yee Sun College and Faculties of Engineering, Science, Education and Law will remain unchanged. If the contingency plan is to be implemented, details will be broadcast at the University MTR Station and posted on the congregation website on the day.

Contingency

If the pandemic worsens, the Congregation and all graduation ceremonies in an online format will be arranged. The announcement will be made on the congregation website.
