CUHK is ranked first in Hong Kong, 53rd globally, in U.S. News’ best universities chart
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has leapt 29 places to 53rd in the U.S. News and World Report’s latest Best Global Universities Rankings 2023, delivering its best performance in the league table to date.
CUHK has also been ranked first in Hong Kong.
In the subject rankings, CUHK made it to the world’s top 50 in 11 subjects, and to the top ten in three of them.
The University once again achieved outstanding results in Computer Science, being ranked tenth worldwide and first in Hong Kong for the third consecutive year. In Gastroenterology and Hepatology, CUHK climbed five places to third, setting another record. In Artificial Intelligence, a new addition to the chart this year, CUHK was placed third.
A CUHK spokesperson said, “CUHK has seen its performance in this ranking improve dramatically. The University has risen over 100 places over the past five years, climbing from 154th in 2017, to 82nd last year, and to 53rd today. This is an extraordinary testimony to the University’s commitment to excellence across everything we do, and is a vote of confidence in what is an increasingly competitive global environment. We would like to express our gratitude to members of the CUHK community who have been working very hard to expand our influence and enhance our reputation.”
The Best Global Universities Ranking by the U.S. News and World Report covers 47 subject rankings and evaluates nearly 2,000 universities across more than 90 countries using more than 10 performance indicators, including number of publications, total number of citations, global and regional research reputation, and international collaboration.
