CUHK Students Serve as volunteers for the 5th anniversary celebration of the West Kowloon Station
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong, a total of 17 CUHK students, including local, mainland and international students, participated as volunteers. They worked together with students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) (CUHK (SZ)) and other volunteers in the Greater Bay Area to answer passengers’ inquiries, support the operation of game booth and introduce the exhibition to visitors on 23 and 24 September.
Titled “Building a Civilised Port Together: Shenzhen-Hong Kong in Harmony”, the celebration was organised by the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, the Shenzhen Futian District Volunteer Association of the Communist Youth League, the West Kowloon Station Police Station, the MTR Corporation, CUHK (Shenzhen), and Shenzhen Special Port Services Limited.
Ms. Elaine Tam, director, Office of Student Affairs of CUHK, represented the University at the opening symposium of the event. She mentioned the event received overwhelming responses of volunteer application and appreciated students’ passion and enthusiasm in serving the community. This event was the first collaboration event for the Office of Student Affairs of CUHK and CUHK (SZ). It is hoped that the two universities could build up connection to offer more volunteer opportunities for students to enhance their understanding and knowledge towards the societies of the two regions.
Students from CUHK and CUHK(SZ) got to know each other during the service. We look forwarding to having more collaboration and exchange opportunities for students of the two campuses in the near future.
