National Natural Science Foundation supports CUHK’s research

A total of 15 CUHK professors have received funding awards from the National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC) to support their research in Hong Kong. Among them, four professors were awarded the NSFC’s Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macao) (2023). Each of the researchers will receive funding of RMB2 million. The remaining 11 professors have received the NSFC’s Young Scientists Fund 2023. Each of them will receive funding of RMB300,000. Both funding grants are for a maximum of three years.

The Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macao) was launched in 2019, and allows young scientists who have demonstrated achievements in basic research to conduct further research in areas of their choice, fostering intellectual development in academics.

The Young Scientists Fund, which has accepted applications from Hong Kong researchers since 2022, supports young scholars as they carry out basic research in areas of their choice, enhancing their ability to conduct innovative projects independently and fostering the development of young scientists.
