Celebrating 60 years of excellence and purpose

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) turned 60 on 17 October. To celebrate its diamond jubilee, the University has launched a campaign under the theme “where great minds shine” to embrace its heritage and envision the future.

Earlier in September, the University unveiled the miniature exhibition at the New Town Plaza in Shatin and the 60th anniversary exhibition at the newly renovated CUHK History Gallery. Through the display of miniature artwork, precious photographs and multimedia resources, the exhibitions highlight the fond moments and historic milestones of CUHK over the past six decades. To mark the occasion, CUHK specially designed a set of commemorative seals which can be collected at the two exhibitions, University Bookstore and souvenir counter during the anniversary period, running until 30 June 2024.

Thanks to the generous donation from a longtime supporter and benefactor of CUHK, the University is also promoting its anniversary to the wider community through targeted media placements, including print, digital media, social media and out-of-home advertisements in key areas across Hong Kong. These advertisements embody the dedication and unity of the CUHK community as we carry on fusing hearts and minds.

Since its establishment in 1963, CUHK has been firmly rooted in teaching, research and community betterment. It consistently upholds the highest standards of scholarly output and contributions to society. Armed with a rich history and a forward-thinking mindset, CUHK will continue to be a driving force in shaping a brighter future for all. As we look forward to the next 60 years of CUHK, let’s revisit the opening video of the 60th anniversary commencement ceremony to reflect on our past, present and future.
