A fond farewell and warm welcome
Chung Chi College held the “Fond Farewell and Warm Welcome” Singing for Excellence Fundraising Banquet in late October, bidding farewell to erstwhile College head Professor Fong Wing-ping and welcoming Professor Kwan Mei-po to the helming role. Over 120 University and College members and guests attended the event.
Dr Norman Chan, chair of the College’s board of trustees, thanked Professor Fong for his effort and dedication over the years. Welcoming Professor Kwan on board, he hoped that she might help the College scale new heights with an innovative and visionary spirit.
Professor Fong fondly recalled the precious moments he had during his tenure: “Although my role has changed, my connection with Chung Chi will never come to an end.”
From Professor Fong’s hands Professor Kwan received the torch, an epitome of the passing on of the College leading role and its educational missions. Upon this, she affirmed her commitment to driving the College forward and nurturing students with exemplary academic and athletic performance, virtue and talent, and spiritual cultivation.
In the banquet’s much-anticipated singing session, which aimed at raising funds for the College’s redevelopment project, a number of guests, University and College members, including Mr Chris Tang, Chung Chi alumnus and Secretary for Security and Mrs Tang, Dr Norman Chan, Vice-Chancellor Professor Rocky Tuan, and Professor Kwan Mei-po sang songs to warm and enthusiastic reception, raising more than one million dollars for the project concerned.
