Academia Europaea, National Academy of Scientist Education of Hungary, Semmelweis University and CUHK inked a memorandum of understanding on 11 December to establish the Translational European-Asian Network, or TEA-NET to push for research collaborations and exchanges between Europe and Asia in translational medicine.
The agreement was signed by Professor Ole Petersen (top second left), representative of Academia Europaea, Professor András Varró (top first left), chairman of the National Academy of Scientist Education, Professor Béla Merkely (top second right), rector of Semmelweis University, and Professor Qin Ling (top first right), Choh-Ming Li Professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at CUHK and also the network’s executive director in Asia.
An expansion of Academia Europaea’s Translational Medicine Working Group to include Asian research and joint projects, the Eurasian translational medicine network aims to facilitate cross-fertilisation of ideas among academics and nurture excellent researchers and clinical scientists in the field.
The network’s European partners comprise National Academy of Scientist Education and Semmelweis University, whereas CUHK and its collaborating institutions in Shenzhen, including Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technologies, CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute, and CUHK Hong Kong–Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Research Institute (Futian) will be its Asian partners.
The University will serve as a vibrant platform for the network’s educational, research, and clinical activities. It will also secure financial resources necessary for its advancement and growth.
