Professor Serena Jin received ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation Culture’

Professor Serena Jin, Emeritus Professor of Translation at CUHK, has been awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation Culture” by the Translators Association of China in recognition of her outstanding contribution in teaching and promoting translation.

Professor Jin has had a career in education and translation spanning several decades. She earned her MA degree from Washington University in St. Louis, US, and her Doctorate from Sorbonne University in Paris, France. Joining CUHK in 1965, Professor Jin played a pivotal role in the development of the Department of Translation. She has also devoted herself to many important administrative positions, including member of the University Council and sub-dean of the Faculty of Arts. Currently, she is an honorary fellow of New Asia College and S.H. Ho College.

Professor Jin is also the President Emeritus and Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Translation Society. She has not only dedicated herself to academic excellence but has also made incomparable contributions in translation practice, teaching, criticism, improvement, and promotion.
