Reading together: the 6th I·CARE Book Festival

The 6th I·CARE Book Festival has successfully come to an end. The theme of this year’s Festival was “Reading Together”, which featured a series of activities including the Book Crossing Pavilion, Book Talks, I·CARE Theatre 2023-24 and ULC Buddy’s Exhibition.

The Book Crossing Pavilion received positive feedback from the CUHK community and various parties, attracting more than 3,000 students and staff member to find their favourite books. A total of more than 25,000 second-hand books were collected. Five book talks – divided into the “Reading Classics” series and the “Read the City” series – were also organised, which were supported by over 500 attendees.

This year, the I·CARE Theatre organised a screening of the movie The Great Passage directed by Yuya Ishii. Professor Chow Po-chung was also invited to give an inspiring post-screening sharing. The event was attended by more than a hundred CHUK students, staff and alumni.

In addition, the inaugural “Buddy of University Lecture on Civility” Programme curated Word Art: Wandering around Chinese Fonts – a small-scale exhibition on Hong Kong typography. The exhibition was also accompanied with a Font Sticker Workshop which allowed participants to create stickers with their unique fonts.
