How a Kazakh trailblazer at CUHK grows and shines

Aisana Bassagarinova, a bright and ambitious Year 1 Science student, hailed from Kazakhstan has embarked on an inspiring journey at CUHK. She was drawn to the University’s global recognition, collegiate system, and sprawling campus, which direct all her efforts towards applying solely to CUHK.

The Science broad-based admission scheme at CUHK perfectly aligns with Aisana’s academic pursuits, offering a flexible first-year curriculum that allows students to explore 11 different science programmes before declaring a major. This freedom to discover her true passions really appeals to Aisana, who is most drawn to the fields of Molecular Biotechnology and Cell and Molecular Biology.

Beyond the classroom, her most cherished experiences at CUHK so far have revolved around the diverse cultural events that enliven the campus. These opportunities to immerse herself in new customs and traditions have been incredibly rewarding, helping her forge meaningful connections with individuals from all walks of life.

Her journey at CUHK truly embodies the university’s commitment to cultivating a nurturing, enriching environment for students from diverse backgrounds. Her unwavering dedication and infectious enthusiasm serve as an inspiration, not just to the CUHK community, but to all who witness the spirit of academic excellence and global engagement that she exemplifies.

As Aisana looks ahead, she is brimming with ambition, determined to make the absolute most of her university experience. Driven to achieve her personal goals, she also finds herself contemplating the possibility of pursuing postgraduate studies after graduation.

She firmly believes that CUHK offers a uniquely nurturing environment, one that extends a warm welcome to Kazakh students like herself who are considering the university as their study destination. “I have firsthand experience of the University’s commitment to cultivating a diverse, inclusive community where students from all backgrounds can thrive.”
