Multicultural Fun Day welcomes new students from around the world

About 130 non-local new students received a warm welcome by the Office of Student Affairs on the Multicultural Fun Day on 23 August, connecting with fellow freshmen and learning about the diverse environment of CUHK.

The event began with a talk on cross-cultural communication, followed by an interactive game session where students could strengthen their communication skills and learn about cultural diversity and inclusion. The day ended with a welcome dinner where students savoured Hong Kong cuisine and learned more about the city’s unique culture.

Matthew Brace, a first-year anthropology student from the United States, shared: “As someone who came here alone, it was a good opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and make new friends.”

The Orientation Day this year concluded on 8 August. Various lectures were held that day to help new students gain a deeper understanding of CUHK’s core values and obtain information about career planning and mental health.
