CUHK Mooncakes for the elderly

CUHK’s Care Service Team visited more than 200 elderly residents in the past two weekends, giving them CUHK Mooncakes as gifts ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The CUHK Mooncake initiative has received overwhelming support this year, receiving enough donations to prepare 2,300 reduced-sugar mooncakes to be given to the elderly.  Working with charity organisations in the community, 150 members of the service team, formed by staff members, students and alumni, visited the residents in Ma On Shan and Tai Po on 7 and 14 September. The rest of the mooncakes will be distributed by the charities to the elderly in the community.

The mooncakes were made by social enterprise Caritas La Vie.
