CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen staff strengthen ties through mutual campus tours

To strengthen ties and foster collaboration between the Hong Kong and Shenzhen campuses, the CUHK Campuses Collaboration Office (CCCO) co-organised the first mutual campus tours as part of a quarterly initiative. These regularly-scheduled campus tours, under the spirit of “One Brand, Two Campuses,” aim to offer staff members the opportunity to experience the unique environment, facilities, and academic resources of each other’s campuses while promoting exchanges between colleagues.

The first tour took place on 9 July, with 50 CUHK staff members visiting the Shenzhen campus — a visit which provided an in-depth look into the campus life and innovative research initiatives at CUHK-Shenzhen. The visitors were welcomed by Vice President Mr Yuen Kin-chung, Associate Vice Presidents Professor Cai Xiaoqiang and Professor Huang Jianwei, as well as other senior leaders, who introduced CUHK-Shenzhen and shared insights into the campus’s development, achievements, and strategic goals. The tour included guided visits to the University Library and various colleges, where CUHK colleagues explored the modern campus layout and state-of-the-art facilities.

On 27 September, CUHK hosted the second part of the mutual tour, welcoming 50 staff members from CUHK-Shenzhen. The day began with a welcome speech by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Chan Wai-yee, who emphasised the shared vision of “One Brand, Two Campuses” and reiterated the importance of such initiatives in strengthening inter-campus relationships. Afterwards, the delegation embarked on a comprehensive tour of the Hong Kong campus’ key landmarks, including the University Library, the University History Gallery and the Art Museum, allowing Shenzhen colleagues to learn about CUHK’s rich history and explore its diverse academic and cultural resources.

During lunch at Lee Woo Sing College’s The Harmony, staff members from both campuses shared experiences and discussed potential collaborative projects. The afternoon session featured a visit to Lee Woo Sing College and a tour of the School of Journalism and Communication, where guests were introduced to CUHK’s collegiate system and the cutting-edge facilities available to students. The day concluded with a trip to the serene Pavilion of Harmony, symbolising the unity and shared aspirations of the two campuses.
