CUHK hosts Information Day
CUHK hosted its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions on 19 October, welcoming over 60,000 visitors, a number which included secondary school teachers, students and parents. The highlight among the admission talks and exhibitions on the day was the “Admission Talk for JUPAS Applicants: Face to Face with CUHKers”, during which Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Professor Andy Wong Ka-chat provided insights on JUPAS admission arrangements. The session included an interactive panel discussion with alumna Julia Leung Fung-yi, Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission; alumnus Daniel Lee Chi-wo, Associate Director of Elite Training Science and Technology at Hong Kong Sports Institute; Professor Lisa Wan Chun-ying, Acting Director of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management; Giann Wong, a year two Medicine student; and Jeffrey Chau, a year three Biochemistry student. They shared their insights on education, JUPAS admissions and selecting a major.
The Information Day also included talks in English and Putonghua introducing other admission routes. The eight CUHK faculties and their departments also conducted multiple admission and consultation sessions, and exhibitions at the University Mall offered further information to prospective students.
CUHK will introduce three new programmes for the 2025-26 academic year: the Public Humanities Programme, the Human Movement Science and Health Studies Programme, and the Materials Science and Engineering Programme. With these new programmes, CUHK aims to foster critical and creative thinking, cultural understanding and interdisciplinary learning. During the Information Day, introductory talks on these new programmes garnered significant interest from visitors.
