Alumni Homecoming 2024: A celebration of heritage and inheritance

The much-anticipated annual Alumni Homecoming has attracted over 6,800 alumni and their families to register for the splendid gathering at the University Mall on 23 November to rekindle their fond memories.

The afternoon commenced with an opening ceremony, where it was announced that the CUHK Alumni Special Anniversary Classes Fundraising Committee had raised a sum of HK$1.2 million for the CUHK Alumni Torch Fund. The fund is dedicated to supporting young alumni in their entrepreneurial efforts and career development and has accumulated around HK$ 15 million to date.

The day unfolded with a rich programme including performances, a handicrafts market, carnival stalls and museum tours. Here are some of the highlights:

During the opening ceremony, alumni and their families enjoyed a series of spectacular performances, including modern dance, martial arts and singing, which showcased the vibrant and diverse spirit of CUHK.
The University Mall was adorned with a colourful array of large inflatable bouncy castles and carnival booths to excite the children.
A bustling handicraft market featured nearly 50 unique handicraft stalls, presenting an exquisite selection of crafts by alumni, ranging from paper-cutting and wooden products to stamps, knitting, painting, ceramics, skincare products and fabrics.
Guides from the CUHK History Gallery, the Art Museum and the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change actively engaged visitors of all ages, walking them through the CUHK’s history, art and science to have a taste of the University’s rich heritage and feel the power of inheritance.
