Serrini charms Chung Chi spring carnival

2,000 CUHK staff, students and alumni spend joyful weekend in festivities and music

12 March 2025

A spring carnival hosted by Chung Chi College earlier this month brought together more than 2,000 CUHK staff, students, alumni and friends for a joyful weekend, featuring a much-anticipated concert by graduate and singer-songwriter Serrini Leung Ka-yan.

The Spring Homecoming Carnival on 1 March aimed to raise funds for the College’s latest campus development initiative Block E Redevelopment Project (Project E). The funds raised will be dedicated to enhancing campus facilities and improving students’ learning and living experiences.

On the day, participants were invited to a variety of activities, including a bouncy castle party, a pop-up market with handmade crafts, games and snack stalls. Serrini, a 2013 graduate of Chung Chi’s Department of English, shared with children her love of reading in a storytelling session.

Serrini’s mini-concert at the College’s Chapel brought the day to a climax. For the evening, she chose to sing songs that she could relate to her university life while sharing fond memories of her CC days with the audience. Opening with The One, she encouraged everyone to take centre stage of their own lives to pursue inner freedom and peace. With Let Us Go Then You and I, she held up courage in the face of adversity. Dr Norman Chan and Professor Kwan Mei-po presented Serrini with a gift of a heart-shaped plant when the concert concluded.
