Blossoms in March Music Concert connects CUHK community

16 April 2025

A concert featuring students, teachers and alumni-musicians brought together different generations of CUHK members last month, as part of a spring programme organised by the Office of Student Affairs.

The concert, held in the Chung Chi College Chapel on 12 March, was the kick-off event of Blossoms in March: A Flourishing CUHK Campus organised by the office’s Student Experience and Development Section. The event attracted about 300 staff and students from CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen. Current students, teachers, and alumni singers with their music groups entertained the audience with more than 20 songs across different genres.

The concert began with Professor Roger Chung Yat-nork from the School of Public Health and Primary Care, accompanied by pianist Jezrael Lucero, who captivated the audience with their original works and jazz performances. They were followed by talented students including Ricky Chan (History/Year 5), Arlette Chan (Nursing/Year 2), and Sophia Wong (Hospitality and Real Estate/Year 1), who brought their passion to life on stage. Alumnus Kessay and his team, Wai Sing Music (above), delighted everyone with a refreshing a cappella performance. Music graduate Winky Wong, a member of the girl group Beanies and her teammate, Jamie Cheung, livened up the atmosphere.

Other alumni musicians joining the show included Tse Nga-yi, who charmed the audience with her award-winning theme song for the movie The Lyricist Wannabe, and Lagchun, a former secondary school teacher. The night reached its climax as alumnus Mau Hou-cheong “No. 6” appeared with his popular band RubberBand.
