International accolades for Professor Chunshan Song for his distinguished catalysis and fuel chemistry research

Professor Chunshan Song, Dean of Science and the Wei Lun Professor of Chemistry, has been honoured with the “2022 Outstanding Achievement Award” by the Chinese American Chemical Society (CACS). The award acknowledges him as an outstanding scholar and leader with exceptional impact, including distinctive publications, presentations, patents, and leadership roles.

As a renowned scientist with ground-breaking research contributions in clean fuels, catalysis, carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and conversion, he has received many major awards and honours such as George A. Olah Award and Henry H Storch Award from the American Chemistry Society (ACS). “This CACS award is a special one because it recognises my professional achievements and contributions while I continue embracing my Chinese heritage in the US, Hong Kong and the world,” he says.

The award ceremony and Professor Song’s keynote lecture “New Design Approaches in Chemistry and Catalysis for Carbon Neutrality” will be held online in conjunction with ACS National Meeting on 25 August 2022. Details are found at https://www.cacshq.org/.

Professor Song is also Distinguished Professor of Emeritus in Fuel Science at the Pennsylvania State University at University Park in the US. He has authored or co-authored over 440 papers in refereed journals and 15 edited books, and is an inventor of eight patents. His research focuses on the catalysis and chemistry of energy and fuels including catalysis and adsorption for clean energy, sustainable development involving adsorptive CO2 separation and catalytic CO2 conversion to chemicals and fuels, shape-selective catalysis for the synthesis of chemicals, adsorptive and catalytic hydrocarbon processing and energy conversion for clean fuels, and the synthesis and application of novel nano-porous materials.
